Still Haunted/Spiritual Virginity
I know that I have strongly urged that we as one race, the human race, begin to step away from the events that took shape almost ten years ago tonight but it seems that no matter where one turns, that day is still as fresh today as it was then. Why? What is it about our psyche that brings us back to a day that was so horrific, morbid, and bloody? Is it because we haven’t yet learned to deal with what took place on that day or is it something that grabs us from behind that just takes us there?
Is there some kind of morbid curiosity that lingers within the back of our minds, is it a jealous envy within our souls that we on an individual level may not be as remembered in such a way when we pass on? Maybe, in some unique way, we understand via our soul’s connection with the other side that we truly are all one thus knowing that prayer is so key, we only want the best for those that perished that day.
Here in the United States, pieces of that day have been sent all across the country as a way to reconnect as a nation. Is this the right thing to do? Grant it, the U.S. has been splintered because of political ignorance on both sides of the isle but does this gesture of brining tangible evidence from that day to all states assist us in a moment of unity or does it sink our joy just enough to scramble our souls in such a way that somewhat knocks us off our toes just enough to throw our individual future just a bit more off?
As I have mentioned before, those that passed away on that day are forever in my prayers but in ways that don’t exactly reflect the events of that day therefore to remember such a day for me is not the way I want to move into the future. If I must look back, I will look beyond that day to when moments in the world where a little easier to swallow, more enjoyable, thus I will fight for my spiritually virginity to stay intact and not let the events of that day rape my being’s positive energy. I will hold on to a more innocent time and lets face it, many of the events prior to that day don’t come close although there are those that might depending on who you are.
Do you remember listening to bands like Nirvana or simply going to an airport without having to take off your shoes? Remember that time when you went out on a Friday night and felt the pure joy of the evening without forcing yourself to want to feel free? Did you ever watch the movie Ghost Busters or see a movie where the laughter you felt so easily spilled from your mouth that your true innocence could be felt?
To You, my Beautiful and Brilliant Sisters & Brothers, if you are going to reflect on that day, please take a moment to walk even farther back, before that day was even a thought in your mind, and remember yourself.
Blessed Be-
