Remember August is Upon Us
Sympathy for the Spider
This evening while in the bathroom of all places, I found a spider appearing to be happily resting in its web it had made between the trashcan and the wall. What made this so interesting was that here it was, this little spider in search of food, nestled in my bathroom on the second floor to my home. Why not take it outside you ask? Because it is February and it is cold, very cold, not to mention very wet and there is no insect life that exists on top of the cold earth at this time of year that I am aware of.
I was perplexed. What should I do? Should I take a chance and capture the spider then take him outside into the cold winter air where most likely there is no food or do I leave him be where there is no food but at lest it is warm and dry.
After much thought, I felt obligated to take a chance and try to capture it so I could then take it outside. At least out there, there was chance for something to eat no matter how sparse. With my trusty cup and paper bag, I went from my kitchen upstairs to the bathroom to give this special life a fighting chance at survival. As I made an attempt to gradually bring the spider to the cup via the paper bag I was using to scoop the spider up, it disappeared, camouflaging itself into the dark color trashcan or the bright color paint on the wall or maybe disguising itself as a piece of dust on my bathroom floor.
I tried. I tried to help. I took into consideration the fact that all life is important. I made the attempt to save a life no matter how small or unimportant it may have appeared to others. It was then that I began to wonder, how much sympathy do we give one another? How much compassion do we have for strangers of the human race? I believe all of us are important as well as everything.
As for you, I believe your words are important and I look forward to reading them come August should you decide to be a part of The World’s Bible by adding your gospel creating a true living bible online.
As for the spider, may it be blessed with a long life for it reminded me of how important we all are.
Blessed Be-
